The exterior of Nick Goodes own home incorporates widespread spotted gum timber decking throughout the walkways and alfresco areas. These walkways are used to join the 2 modules of the house together. Matching the decking is spotted gum cladding that surrounds the entirety of the main module of the house. The cladding uses varied widths as a feature creating added difficulty in its construction. This nonstandard configuration helps to accentuate the timbers features and shows off the complexity of its construction.
The house is split into two distinct areas that are joined through the pool area and Japanese inspired garden. Module two acts as guest accommodation and was built to be partially self-contained giving both guests and owners privacy when required. Huge 3-piece glass sliding doors recess completely back into the wall opening up the living area to the secondary deck and pool giving phenomenal views over the rest of the property. A second outdoor area adjoins to the open plan living area through identical 3 piece doors and opens up to views of the creek running through the property. The spotted gum deck and cladding is contrasted with natural stone pillars and a stone fire place that adds real warmth and natural characteristics to this outdoor space.
Our Projects
The theme is continued inside with several feature lined ceiling pyramids clad in western red cedar. Not only do they create a sense of space in the room by vaulting the ceiling, it also adds a similar warmth to the home as the exterior cladding does. One of the most exciting features of the home is hidden beneath the pantry of the kitchen. The floor of the pantry can be raised in the flick of a switch to reveal the custom-made wine cellar below. Lined with American white oak and featuring a 3D effect timber wall this room sums up the excitement of a nowgen house. More of this 3D oak can be found in the powder room, and contrasts with the copper plumbing features in a totally unique way.
This custom home is both beautiful and striking. As Nick Goode’s own house, it is a hallmark of the inventiveness and creativity nowgen Building strives for.
Nowgen Building by Nick Goode began over 25 years ago when owner Nick Goode used his extensive experience in carpentry to begin building for himself under Nick Goode Construction.
